LEWISTON — Geraldine N. Morton passed away at the age of 90 after a long, full life.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1923, to the late Harold and Ina (Loring) Norton, the fourth of 11 children. She grew up on the large family farm. Geraldine developed her love of basketball as a varsity player in high school, and was an avid Boston Celtics fan.

During WWII, she worked as a secretary for the War Department in Washington, D.C., returning home after the war to marry Richard I. Morton of Raymond, a professional jazz pianist, who predeceased her in 1987.

She returned to college as her children were entering high school to earn a teaching degree followed by teaching in the Gray and Raymond elementary schools for over 20 years. She retired to Florida, where she developed a passion for golf even having both hips replaced at age 80 so she could keep playing. It was after retirement that she also became a gifted artist. Well-known by many for her paintings in watercolor, oils, and acrylics, her paintings were shown in juried shows.

She is survived by her brother, Percy. She also leaves her son Keith of Bellevue, Wash; her daughter, Catherine of Lewiston; many grandchildren, a great-great grandson, nieces and nephews.
