NAPLES — “Mickey” Hanmer, 80, of Naples, passed away on March 6, 2012, after a long illness. She was lovingly surrounded by her family at the time of death.

She was born in Falmouth, on March 19, 1931. She was the oldest of four children.

Mickey was raised on Chebeague Island, where she attended and graduated from the island school. She then moved to Bethlehem, Conn., where she worked for many years as a veterinarian’s assistant. She moved back to the island becoming the school cook until she retired and went to work at the transfer station. In 1999, she moved to Naples to be closer to her sister and brother.

She loved animals, cooking, camping and reading. One of her favorite things was bird watching. She really enjoyed visiting her family and friends and was always up for a good road trip.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her very loving friend, Joanna Howard. They were longtime friends who had many wonderful and memorable experiences together. They traveled and took many camping trips throughout New England. They had a friendship that was everlasting.

She was predeceased by her mother, Charlotte L. Doughty of Cape Elizabeth; her father, Theodore W. Hanmer; her brother, Ronald L. Doughty of Naples; and her sister, Barbara R. Doughty-Wilcox, also of Naples.

She is survived by her brother, Robert C. Doughty of Phippsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held at Hall Funeral Home, located at 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco, on Saturday, March 10, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. A memorial service followed at 3 p.m. A private burial will be held in the spring at Crooked River Cemetery in Naples.
