BROWNFIELD — Thelma "Burnell" Lowell, 94, of Brownfield, entered into eternal peace in her sleep, surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday, July 19, 2015, in her home.

Thelma was born on July 17, 1921, in Brownfield, to Millard and Bernice Johnson Burnell. Thelma attended Bean Memorial Grammar School and graduated from Bean Memorial High School in Brownfield. She worked at Hall N. Smith Mill. She taught Sunday School in the Brownfield Church for many years. She worked at Dan's Lord Market, and then she worked at Village Variety in Fryeburg for over 20 years for Paul Mutrie. Then she moved on to work at Boviens in Brownfield, from where she eventually retired. During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing puzzles, yard work, and collecting cardinals.

Thelma was the wife of the late Wallace Lowell and the mother of the late Cecil Lowell, also of Brownfield. She is survived by and leaves behind two brothers, Jean and Keith Burnell of Brownfield; her four grandchildren, Laurie Henry, Neal Lowell, Kimmy Lowell and David Lowell; four great-grandchildren, Allan and his wife Vanessa, Jim and wife Jenn, Little David and Johnny; and three great-great-grandchildren, Brady, Nathan, and Chase Reed. She also leaves behind a lot of wonderful friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 25th, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brownfield. Arrangements are made with Wood Funeral Home, Fryeburg. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.org
