Shirley Downing

BRIDGTON — Shirley J. Downing, 82, of Denmark, passed away unexpectedly in the arms of her loving husband of 61 years on Saturday, March 26, 2016.

She was born in Waltham, Mass., on June 9, 1933, the daughter of Rowland H. and Ivy M. Burton Page. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1952 and married Robert William Downing on April 24, 1954. She had worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for 28 years as a CNA.

Shirley is survived by her husband of Denmark; her four children Cathy, Cindy, Curt and Doug and their families; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Walter, Barbara and Chet.
