Ruth Troop

AUBURN — Ruth I. Troop, 99 of Sarah Frye Home in Auburn, died on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.

She was born in Hermon on July 24, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Inez (O’Leary) Kelliher.
 She was educated in Bangor schools and was a graduate from Husson College. On June 24, 1946, she married Donald Troop.

Mrs. Troop taught for several years in Thomaston and Gardiner. 
She was a homemaker and owned and operated a general store with her husband for several years. She also worked in the office of United Distributors of Auburn. She was a member of Our Lady of Ransom Church in Mechanic Falls, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed quilting and crafts.

Mrs. Troop is survived by her daughters, Linda Clarke of Poland and Jane M. Noble of Oxford; five grandchildren including Tracy Smith and Robert Kimball Jr. of Bridgton and Melinda Noble of Waterford; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls on Sunday, Nov. 5. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Our Lady of Ransom, Elm Street, Mechanic Falls. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
