Russell T. Gaudet

DAYTONA, FLA. — Russell T. “Terry” Gaudet, 73, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Carlton Shores Health and Rehabilitation, in Daytona, Fla., following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 10, 1937 in Rumford to the late Terrance and Henrietta Gaudet. He attended South Portland schools. Terry served in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning to Portland, Terry married his first wife, with whom he had four children. After an annulment, Terry united in marriage to the late Pauline Goudey Gaudet, with whom he raised her four children in Portland. After the death of his wife Pauline, Terry united in marriage to his wife Rita Berry-Gaudet.

Terry had many talents and loved the outdoors. In his early years, Terry worked doing vinyl siding and construction. He later developed an undying love for driving tractor trailer over the road. For the past 17 years, up until the time of his death, he drove for R.C. Moore Trucking, Scarborough. He previously worked for Bancroft Martin, Cianbro Corporation Construction, Hutchins Trucking, Prowler Trucking, and Lily Trucking.

Terry was a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Portland. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and served as club president. He was a member of The American Legion of South Portland.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Rita of Port Orange, Fla. and Portland; his son, Gregory Goudey of Freeport; his daughters, Deanna Rogers of Raymond and Francine Goudey of Portland; four brothers, Gary, Keith and John and, all of Westbrook, and David of South Portland; eight grandchildren; and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline and son Steven Goudey.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. Prayers were recited at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at St Joseph’s Church, 673 Stevens Avenue, Portland.
