STOW — Ronald J. Waitkus, 73, of Stow and formerly of Burlington, Mass. and Newbury, N.H., passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at his residence with his loving family at his side.

Ronald was born in Cambridge, Mass. on Feb. 3, 1943, the son of John C. and Stanislava (Poznauskus) Waitkus. 
He attended Boston schools and also attended North Bennett Street Industrial School, where he studied drafting. He worked for the Town of Lexington, Mass. on the Highway Department and retired due to injury.

Ronald was a master carpenter and arborist. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the Friendship Lodge AF & AM of Wilmington, Mass., the Aleppo Shrine Temple in Boston, and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He also studied and became an ordained minister.
 He will be missed by everyone who knew him, especially his dog, King.

He leaves his wife of over 48 years, Janet (Pratt) Waitkus; two sons, Ronald J. Waitkus II of Farmington, N.H. and Christopher J. Waitkus of Epsom, N.H.; five grandchildren; and a brother, John.

A service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg.
