SOUTH PORTLAND — Romeo Gerard Sirois, 69, passed away in the morning at his South Portland home on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.

He was born in Madawaska on Oct. 23, 1945, the son of Donat and Cecile (Paradis) Sirois. After attending high school at Séminaire Des Pères Oblats De Marie Immaculée in Bucksport, he went on to serve in the Army until 1967. He later graduated from Husson College in Bangor, and became a Certified Public Accountant.

On Dec. 26, 1970, he married the love of his life, Fernande (Fern) Frenette, of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada. They settled in Fryeburg, and Romeo opened an accounting practice in Bridgton. He eventually retired from Harmon, Jones and Sirois, CPA.

During college, Romeo was a star soccer player, receiving several awards. He played in many bowling leagues both in Madawaska and Fryeburg. He also enjoyed playing on a local Bridgton men’s hockey team, and was an avid tennis player. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Romeo was predeceased by his parents; his wife Fern; and two brothers, Lawrence of Candia, N.H. and Jean Paul (JP) of Hartford, Conn.

He is survived by his sister, Anita (Sirois) Clavette, of Fort Kent; two brothers, Richard Sirois of Manchester, N.H. and Leo Sirois of Madawaska; his daughter, Jennifer Sirois of Boone, N.C.; his son, Eric Sirois of Bridgton; and two grandchildren.

Romeo was dearly loved and loved his family.

A memorial service was held at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland, on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. A reception followed the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date.  Online condolences can be given to the family at www.jonesrichandhutchins.com
