NORTH YARMOUTH — Roland J. Liberty, 88, of North Yarmouth, died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Portland after two months of declining health.

He was born in North Yarmouth on April 30, 1924, the 12th of 13 children of Phillip and Louisa (Therrian) Liberty.

Roland worked as an attendant at Pineland, formerly Pownal State School, for 20 years before working another 20 years at Baxter School in the Maintenance Department.

Roland enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of a group that played for Saturday night dances at the Grange Hall in Buxton.

Roland will be remembered as a peaceful, loving man who was a devoted husband to his wife of 67 years, Catherine Liberty of North Yarmouth.

He is also survived by his sister, Loretta Ripley of North Raymond; and a special niece.

Services will be private and burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Route 115, North Yarmouth.
