BUXTON — Richard Kenneth Ruby, 47, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He was born in Brunswick on Oct. 28, 1966, a son of Richard and Nancy (York) Ruby who currently reside in Limington.

After graduating from Cheverus High School, Richard went on to graduate from the University of Southern Maine.

For over 30 years, Richard has been employed by a Portland lobster wholesaling company. For at least 14 years, Richard proudly volunteered with Buxton Little League and was a member of the Salmon Falls Country Club for 10 years. He enjoyed playing golf, sports in general, fishing, swimming, skiing; however, he will always be remembered for the devotion he had with his beloved family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy (Elwell) Ruby; sons, Tyler and Joshua Ruby, both of Buxton; brothers, Daniel Ruby of Harrison and Charles Ruby of Limington; sisters, Sarahjo Potter of Sebago and Shirley Mitton of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 4 from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Routes 202 and 4A (13 Portland Road) in Buxton (Bar Mills). Burial will be in the spring at South Buxton Cemetery.
