LACONIA, N.H. — Richard Caron, 78, of Belmont, N.H., died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital, after a sudden illness.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1937, in Berlin, N.H., to the late Thomas and Ida (Marois) Caron. Richard graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, Lewiston in 1955, and joined the U.S. Air Force that same year. Richard met and married his best friend, Aline Gagne, in 1963.

Richard worked for Ulbrich Stainless Steel and Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut until 1970. He then worked for General Electric in South Portland until 1983. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1999.

Richard was a third-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 10943 Belmont, N.H. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years.

Richard is survived by his three children, Tom Caron of West Baldwin, Joline Caron of Belmont, N.H., and Irene Montminy of Londonderry, N.H.; brother Lionel Caron of Berlin, N.H.; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Aline; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Cecile.

All are invited to attend a gathering on Friday, April 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, N.H.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 15 Elm Street, Manchester, N.H., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, for interment with full Military Honors immediately following in the mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, N.H.
