HARRISON — Michael C. Sclafani, 9, of Harrison, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at home with his loving family at his side.

Michael was born on June 24, 2003, in Danbury, Conn., the son of Monica and Charles Sclafani. He moved to Harrison at the age of three from Sandy Hook, Conn., with his family. Soon after, he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. He fought bravely for six years before earning his angel wings.

Michael was in the fourth grade at Harrison Elementary School. He was an avid hockey fan, always routing on his beloved teams, the Boston Bruins or New York Rangers. He also enjoyed playing the game, getting out to the rink whenever possible. He played with the Western Maine Youth Hockey league this year.

He was passionate about Legos and Star Wars, ready to provide you with any information you needed. He was always ready to help and gave 100% to his schooling and friends. His laugh was infectious and everyone around couldn’t help but join in.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Julianna and Carina; his brother, Dominic; his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Serge Champagne of Sandy Hook, Conn.; paternal grandmother, Constance Sclafani of Dallas, Pa.; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, March 23, at 12 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Church in Bridgton. Visiting hours were held onn Friday evening at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. Burial will be later at the family’s convenience.
