Maxine B. Norton

BUXTON — Maxine Betty Norton, 82, formerly of South Portland, died in Buxton on Sunday, April 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

Maxine was born in Portland, the daughter of Chester and Christina (Cleveland) Dodge, where she was educated and a graduate of South Portland High School, Class of 1948. She married Thomas E. Norton, Jr. on Jan. 7, 1948.

She was a member of the Lake Region Wanders Good Sam Club, Maine Garden Railroad Society, and volunteered at the St. John Food Pantry and the MS Bike and Walk.

She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas; son, Teddy John Norton; brother, Lewin Dodge; and grandson.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Norton of Buxton and Terrence Norton of Eliot; daughter, Virginia Dibiase of Portland; four sisters, Lorraine Johnson of South Portland, Angeline Watts of Harrison, Gloria Page of Portland and Brenda Cook of Westbrook; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Visiting hours and funeral service were held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Interment will be private at a later date.
