Marie Darna

Marie B. Darna, 71, of Bridgton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with her husband at her side.

Marie was born April 16, 1944, in Arlington, Mass., to the late Albert and Anna Balzano of Watertown, Mass. Marie was a top-notch secretary, working for insurance company C.J.P. BlueCross/BlueShield, Dr. Charles Trey, WBZ-TV, and law firms in Boston and Florida, ending her career as an assistant activities director at the day care center for the elderly associated with Florida Atlantic University.

Marie and her husband moved to Bridgton in 2006. She worked at Craftworks, Elegance Salon, and the Magic Lantern movie theater.

Marie loved Bridgton, and volunteered with at the Bridgton Community Center and at the Twitchell Campus Café at Bridgton Hospital.

Marie was also an avid novel reader, excellent cook, superb pot/container gardener of veggies and herbs, and a true animal lover.

Marie is survived by her husband Edward; sister Joanna Balzano; stepdaughter Juli Gilliam; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Marie will be sadly missed by all her family, many friends and coworkers. If desired, donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
