MILLINOCKET — Marguerite S. (Stearns) Kimball, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, surrounded by her three daughters.

Marguerite was born April 5, 1929, in Portland, the eldest child of Marcus and Esther (Allard) Stearns of Lovell.
She was a 1948 graduate of Fryeburg Academy and received a bachelor of science degree in 1952 from Gorham Teacher’s College. Marguerite taught second grade after graduation for one year and was a substitute teacher for more than 30 years.

Marguerite was a lifelong member of Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of First Congregational Church. Marguerite traveled extensively with her husband and family throughout the United States including Hawaii, Canada, several Caribbean Islands and Europe. Marguerite was happiest at home knitting, playing cards and enjoying time with her family. She was a gentle, giving woman who always put others first.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald, in 1990; and sister, Marcia Hamlin, in 2012.

She leaves behind her younger brother, Albert Stearns of Lovell; three daughters, Valerie Leino of Millinocket, Pamela Smith of Millinocket and Esther LeBlanc of Bridgewater, Mass.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marguerite’s life will be held in the spring. Donations may be made in remembrance of Marguerite to the American Stroke Foundation.
