Marguerite P. Harrington

WEST BALDWIN — Marguerite Parker Harrington, 87, of the Crawford Road, died at her home on June 25, 2011, after a long illness.

She was born on June 8, 1924, to Hallie and Erna Creamer Parker of Cornish, the second of nine children. She attended local schools and graduated from Cornish High School in 1942.

She married Charles Harrington of West Baldwin on Feb. 10, 1945. Charles passed away on June 5, 1993. Charles and Marguerite built their home together in 1952 where she lived for 59 years.

She was a hard worker and picked apples in the fall for many seasons. She worked at the Fryeburg Shoe Shop for several years until they closed.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making things for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marguerite also enjoyed weekly trips to bingo and also playing cards with her family and friends. She loved playing horseshoes, usually winning, and enjoyed going to Fryeburg Fair to watch her brother, Freeman, race horses. Above all, she loved spending time with her large, loving family.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by five brothers: George, William, Harold, Sam and Steve; a sister, Muriel Sargent; and three grandchildren. Surviving are four children, Pamela Howell, of West Baldwin, Adelbert Harrington, of Cornish, Dennis Harrington, of West Baldwin, and Christine Watson, of Windham; two brothers, Stanley Parker, of Weymouth, Mass., and Freeman Parker, of Waterford; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

There was an hour of visitation followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, June 28, at the Watson, Neal & York Funeral Home in Cornish. Burial followed at the Old West Baldwin Cemetery.
