Madalyn Lodge

WESTBROOK — Madalyn Carland Lodge, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at the Springbrook Extended Care in Westbrook.

She was born in Bangor on Jan. 18, 1921, the daughter of John and Marie Hanson.

Madalyn grew up in Portland and graduated from Deering High School, Class of 1939. She worked in the insurance field as an underwriter at Aetna and Home Insurance, both in Portland. She was also a member of Lyric Theater for several years.

After retiring, Madalyn and her second husband, Ken Lodge, moved to New Port Richey, Fla. where she enjoyed playing golf, playing bridge, gardening and the retired Florida lifestyle.

Madalyn was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, John Carland; her second husband, Kenneth Lodge; and her sister, Barbara Spiller.

Madalyn is survived by her sons, J. Christopher Carland of Scarborough and Jeffrey Carland of New Orleans, La.; two grandchildren, including Stephen Carland of Bridgton; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
