Lawrence Napolitano

WESTBROOK — Lawrence Napolitano, 85, of Westbrook, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Springbrook Health Care.

He was born in Portland, the son of Joseph and Lena Grimalia Napolitano. He was raised and educated in Portland. He was a merchant seaman; traveled all over the world.

Lawrence was the owner, operator of the Naples Spa in Portland for several years. He later opened Maria’s restaurant in Westbrook, which he ran many years. He enjoyed cooking and horse racing at Scarborough Downs.

His wife, Grace Maiorano Napolitano, died in 2001.

He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Napolitano of Raymond, Michael Napolitano of Westbrook and James Napolitano of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Cloutier of South Portland and Violet Schilling of Sebago; and two brothers, Anthony Napolitano of Portland and Ernest Napolitano of Gray.

Visiting hours were held on Monday at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday in St. Anthony Church, Westbrook. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery.
