BUXTON — Lawrence E. Roberts Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1929, to Lawrence H. and Alice M. (Gregor) Roberts. He grew up and attended schools in South Portland.

He married Marion J. Burnham on Aug. 6, 1949, and together raised five children.

He worked most of his life as a front-end mechanic and retired in 2001 from The Bill Dodge Auto Group.

He enjoyed boating, fishing, horseshoes, flea markets, air shows, and most of all spending quality time with his family. He had a passion for airplanes and dreamed of flying one day. This dream was realized when he received a gift of flying lessons from his son. This passion was also expressed in his hobby of model building that carried from childhood through adulthood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Warren, Harold, Philip and John; a granddaughter; and three nephews.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Lawrence E. Jr. of Buxton and Ronald M. of Naples; three daughters, Sharon A. Masters of Kingman, Ariz., Susan E. Houck of Hollidaysburg, Pa. and Doris A. Stout of Windham; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; brothers, William and Raymond; sisters, Marion Stevens of Portland, Connie Muia of Indiana and Doreen Fecteau of Biddeford; his close cousin and friend; many nieces and nephews.
