Joseph A.L. Pelletier, 85

CASCO — Joseph “Larry” A.L. Pelletier, 85, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Westbrook, a son of Joseph and Georgeanna (Martineau) Pelletier.

Joseph grew up in Westbrook, attended local schools, and in 1990 received his high school diploma. He had many hobbies including golf, hunting, and woodworking.

Joseph enjoyed a 30-year career as a letter carrier for the Westbrook Post Office, where he was a past president of the Postal Workers Union. Following his postal career, he held positions in construction and with Interstate Batteries. Joseph had a great sense of patriotism. He entered the Army early and served in the Korean War from 1950-1953, where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was also a proud member of the Portland Elks Club and Naples American Legion, where he was a past president.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sisters, Jeannette Small, Theresa Normandin and Shirley Seiders.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jeannine S. Pelletier; children, Gary Pelletier of Wells, Bruce Pelletier of Poland, Virginia Nadeau of Naples, Michael Ward of Raymond, Allen Pelletier of Raymond and Bruce Ward of Scarborough; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated Monday, Dec. 5, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Burial was held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
