FREEPORT — Joan M. (Hurley) Haight, 83, of Freeport and formerly of North Yarmouth, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

She was the wife of the late Robert L. Haight, who died on Jan. 24, 2006.

She was born in Holyoke, Mass., on June 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Helen Fitzgerald. She attended local area schools in Holyoke, graduating from Holyoke High School.

Joan spent many years working for New England Telephone as an operator, in between raising her children. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing bingo.

She is survived by six children, Charlie Haight of North Yarmouth, Barbara Veillette of West Springfield, Mass., David Haight of Westfield, Mass., Katie Williams of Gray, Tom Haight of Cumberland Foreside, and Tim Haight of Naples; 15 grandchildren, as well as six great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Jeffrey Haight, who died on April 6, 2006, and Brian Haight, who died in 1959.
