Jayne E. Himes, 45

PORTLAND — Jayne Elizabeth Himes, 45, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Wellsboro, Penn., on Oct. 7, 1971, the daughter of William and Sally (Lindquist) Grega.

Jayne graduated from Wellsboro High School. She then attended and graduated from Old Dominion College with a B.A. degree, and later from Mansfield University with a B.A. degree.

She worked as a corporate accountant for a short time and, most recently, she owned and operated a horse rescue business. Horse rescuing made her a lot of friends who had assisted Jayne, or started their own. She had also done substitute teaching in the Oxford Hills. She was a member and supporter of the Animal Rescue League and will be remembered for her infectious smile.

Besides rescuing horses, Jayne also loved doing cake design and spending time with her dog, “Paddy.”

She had lived in Harrison for three and a half years, coming from Yarmouth.

Surviving are a son, Roman Himes of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Rhianon Himes of Harrison; her partner, Joshua May of Harrison; her mother of Wellsboro, Penn.; three brothers, Bill Grega of Mansfield, Penn., Rob Grega of N.J., and Paul Grega of Ariz.

A celebration of her life will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at Oxford Hills Funeral Service, 1037 Main Street, Oxford.
