PORTLAND — James E. Budroe Sr., 66, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.

He had lived for the past 20 years in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and recently moved to Maine to be with family. James battled bladder and bone cancer for the last 18 months.

He was a plumber for 54 years. In his earlier years, he was employed by General Electric and worked as a longshoreman for many years.

He enjoyed socializing with friends at the Fort Lauderdale Eagles. James was always eager to help others and looked out for others before himself.

James leaves behind a daughter, Melinda Budroe of Casco; a son, James E. Budroe Jr. of Eliot; two granddaughters and a grandson; and a brother, John A. Budroe Jr. of Saco.

He was predeceased by his parents, John A. Budroe and Edith I. (DiPietro) Budroe; and a brother, Anthony Budroe of Dunedin, Fla.

At his request, there will be no visiting hours or services.
