LISBON FALLS — Henry Paul Szott, 93, a longtime resident of Lisbon Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2013, with family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 15, 1919, to Michael P. and Tekla (Krason) Szott. Henry enrolled in the Army at 17 and was sent to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He later reenlisted when World War II broke out. He was a decorated sharp shooter, teaching recruits marksmanship and later served as a military police officer. He was a proud World War II veteran.

He married Elizabeth “Betty” Ella Parker in January 1942. Henry worked as a sheet metal worker for SMW Local 545, also serving as business agent.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching Patriots and Red Sox games, the beach and getting a great summer tan. He dabbled in amateur black and white photography.

He is survived by his sister, Blanche Szott; son, Paul of Harrison; daughters, Pamela of Boothbay Harbor and Debra of West Gardiner; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a cousin.

Henry was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth, in 1986; and his son, David, in 2011.
