Helen M. Lewis, 99

HARRISON — Helen M. Lewis passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, peacefully in her sleep at Market Square Nursing Home in South Paris.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1919, in Baldwin, to Zella and Leslie Kenison. She married Roger Lewis of Harrison on Jan. 22, 1939. They had five children and lived all their life in Harrison. Her husband was killed when he was only 45 while working in the woods, causing her to raise five kids on her own. She was a very hard worker and took great pride in her family. She loved cooking and doing her fancy work. She was devoted to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Lewis and wife Jane of Oxford; Gordon Lewis and companion Barbara of Liberty; three daughters, Nancy Mayhan and husband John of Harrison, Susan Sanborn and husband Jay of Waterford, and Cindy Richards and companion Mike of Bethel; grandchildren, Wayne Lewis and his children Megan, Jessica, Jake, Kayla and Eliza, Michelle Kimball and her sons Trevor, Tyler, and Travis, John Mayhan and wife Jennifer and their daughter Nicole, Troy Mayhan and wife Ashley and their children Cameron and Landon, Melissa Richards and her son Elias, granddaughters, Amy Richards, MeChell Mayberry, Leslie Lewis and Kathy Lewis; and her grandson Jeffrey Lewis. She had many other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Roger.

Graveside services were held at the Lewis Cemetery, Lewis Road, Harrison, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Online condolences may be left for the family at hallfuneralhome.net
