NAPLES — Gorham Bogart “Buff” Smith of Naples and The Villages, Fla., passed away peacefully at his Florida home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 following a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie “Midge” Lynne Smith; father of Kristen Anderson of Tewksbury, Mass. and Shannon Adams of Chebeague Island; brother to Lee Smith of Wellesley, Mass.; grandfather of two. Buff shared the last eight years of his life with his loving partner Roberta “Bobbi” Cribby of Naples and The Villages, Fla.
Buff grew up in Wellesley, Mass., where he met his wife-to-be, Midge, in high school. They were married for 39 wonderful years. They both cherished their lifelong friendships they made in Wellesley. Buff and Midge moved to Maine, where Buff graduated from Husson College in Bangor. From there, they moved to Framingham, Mass. and he enjoyed a rewarding career in the financial investment business in Boston, before retiring to Sebago Lake in Naples. There, he began his love of boating, fishing, golf and spending time with his many golden retrievers over the years.
In 2007, he met Bobbi and spent many years together in the wonderful lakes of Naples. Their love of warmer winters and golf brought them to The Villages in the summer of 2012. There, they formed amazing friendships that are cherished.
