Fred P. Placzek, 94

WESTFIELD, MASS. — Fred Peter Placzek, 94, of Westfield, Mass., died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 11, 1920 in Westfield, the son of the late Anthony and Alice Placzek. Fred was a communicant of St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church and a 50-year member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge in Westfield. He began his long career of work as a machinist and toolmaker and completed his career as a machine shop teacher at Westfield Vocational High School.

Fred appreciated the simplicity of life’s offerings and guarded his independence in the life he shared with his wife of 71 years, Rose (Wojcek) Placzek.

Fred was predeceasd by his son, Daniel.

He leaves behind his wife Rose; daughter, Jane Borsetti; two grandchildren, Gunnar Borsetti and Moriah Borsetti of Sebago; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, Mass. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at noon. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
