SEBAGO — Fred H. Anderson, 71, of the Convene Rd. died on March 23, 2013, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after a long illness and a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 18, 1941, a son of George and Mary (Irish) Anderson. He attended Sebago schools and graduated from Potter Academy in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet  Douglas, on June 24, 1961.

Fred worked his whole life for his family's business, George Anderson and Sons Construction Co. He was also very civic-minded and served for several organizations over the years. He was a member of the Sebago Fire Department and has been an honorary member for over 25 years since he became ill. He also belonged to the Sebago Lions Club, serving as King Lion for several years, as well as being a member of the Maple Grove Grange. He was road commissioner for several years and served on the school board as well.

Fred loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, and especially camping at C Pond in Upton. Above all, he loved his family. All the years he was struggling with illness, he loved visits from his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Lewis Dolloff, as well as brothers-in-law Ralph and Harold Douglas.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Janet Anderson, of Sebago; two sons, David Anderson and wife Kelly, and Paul Anderson and wife Lisa, both of Sebago; six grandchildren: Heather, Nathan, Ryan, Nicholas, James and Jacob Anderson, all of Sebago; a sister, Rita Dolloff, of Sebago; and a sister-in-law, Esther Chase and her husband Ken, who along with the rest of the family was very dedicated to helping with Fred's care over the years.

An hour of visitation will be on Friday, March 29, from 1 to 2 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the Sebago Center Community Church. Rev. Daniel Lakeman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Haley Cemetery.
