Evora R. Jordan, 82

SACO — Evora Ruth Jordan, 82, of Saco, formerly of Casco and E. Hartford, Conn., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Monarch Center.

She was born in Windham on Nov. 17, 1931 the daughter of Almon and Ruth Seavey Moore. She was raised in Windham, later in life living in Casco, and upon retirement she moved to Central Conn. She attended Windham schools and received her Master’s degree from Maine State Teachers College.

She married Dana Jordan on June 10, 1950. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage before his death on Jan. 28, 1990. Evora was a teacher for more than 22 years, an abuse counselor and consultant. She was the co-founder of the Rape Crisis Council in Oxford County. She had conducted abuse prevention workshops in New England and in Moscow, Russia.

Upon her retirement she became a published author and had written more than six books. She belonged to the Connecticut Authors Association, where she had been a Past President.

She is survived by her son, Barry Jordan and his wife Christine of Sebago; daughter, Diana Ruth Manner and her husband Ric of Manchester, Conn.; grandchildren, Brian Jordan, Kelly Jordan Hale of Sebago, Karl and Kurt Manner of Manchester, Conn.; and three great-grandchildren.

In honor of her wishes there will be a private family ceremony at a later date.
