PORTLAND — Evelyn W. Lamb, 82, of Bridgton, died early Friday morning, March 20, 2015, at the Birchwoods at Canco Assisted Living Center in Portland, with her son and daughter at her side.

She was born on July 4, 1932, in Norwich, Conn., a daughter of Arthur and Grace Louise (Bonnie) Lamb. Her family moved to Harrison in 1945, and she attended Bridgton Academy, graduating in 1949. She went on to attend and graduate from Westbrook Jr. College.

Evelyn began her working career as a dietitian at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She later returned to Maine, working at Maine Medical Center in Portland and later the Bridgton Hospital, from where she retired after many years. She was very active in the Town of Bridgton over the years, including many years of work with the Bridgton Historical Society and the local cemeteries, where for many years she spearheaded the marking of veterans' graves with American flags for Memorial Day. She also volunteered countless hours over the years assisting with voting in Bridgton. Evelyn was a charter member of the Chickadee Quilting Club and enjoyed gardening, knitting, genealogy and other various crafts beyond quilting.

She is loved by a daughter, Pamela McIntosh and her husband, David of Jackson, Wyo., and their children, Tyler and Sarah; a son, Michael McKeen and his wife, Lori of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and their children, Dillon and Connor; a sister, Priscilla Smith and her husband, Richard of Brunswick; a nephew, Mark Smith; and a niece, Rebekah Pederson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich, Conn.
