CASCO — Eva Varney Nutting, 81, of Casco, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Brentwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Yarmouth, with family at her bedside after a brief illness.
She was born in Windham on April 13, 1933, the daughter of Charles and Doris Curtis Varney. She was one of thirteen children.
She attended Windham schools, graduating in 1951 from Windham High School. She married Forrest J. Nutting, Oct. 17, 1959. They were together for 54 years, until his death last July.
Eva worked for Sebago Moc for 19 years, and retired from McDonald's in Windham. She was a loyal Red Sox fan, enjoyed Lake Region High School girl's basketball, and belonged to a bowling league for many years.
Surviving her are her stepson Calvin Nutting and wife Rhonda of Casco; stepdaughter Karen Toman of Westbrook; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her brother Lyndon (Boo) Varney and wife Joanne of Windham; and her sisters Ruthie Legere of Westbrook, Esther Nelson of Standish, and Audrey Leighton and husband David of Windham.
Eva's family would like to thank Brentwood for the excellent care and love she received during her short stay there, and the kindness shown to her family at this difficult time.
At her request, there will be no services. Her family will be hosting a celebration of her life at her home at 44 Brown Avenue in Casco, on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
