Eric E. Bell

Eric E. (Rick) Bell of Bridgton passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

He was born in Caribou on July 13, 1947, the son of late Kenneth and Phyllis Bell of Bridgton. He graduated from Bridgton High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Army and served three tours in Vietnam. Then, he enlisted for two years in the Navy. He was a police officer in Newport, R.I. in the 70s. He then relocated back to Bridgton and worked for the Bridgton Post Office and was employed at Main Street Variety until he had to care for his ailing mother.

He enjoyed target practicing, football, video games and his beloved German Shepherd “Jake.” But most of all, he enjoyed telling stories about his experiences.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Tanya S. Bell-Van Rose of Naples, Tiffany D. Bell-Pollisotta of New Market, N.H. and Eric J.H. Bell of Otisfield; seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; his sister, Dorothy Smith of Bridgton; his brother, Kenneth Bell of Augusta; and his former wife, Janice P. Rose of New Market, N.H.

Private services were held on Friday, May 20.
