Becki Hodgkin

SOUTH CASCO — Becki Jane (Hall) Hodgkin, 61, of South Casco, died Monday, March 1, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was the wife of Robert B. Hodgkin.

She was the beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, who went on a journey to be with her mother…a journey that left her longtime pain and suffering behind and ended in a reunion with those who had left her previously and those that she dearly missed.

Becki Jane Hall was born on Nov. 30, 1955 to Richard M. Hall and Beverly Murch Hall. She graduated from Deering High School in 1974 and worked in banking and in the post-closing department of a local title company until her retirement several years ago.

Becki had the unique gift of making all around her feel special and loved. Her humor and laughter were infectious — to hear her laugh made everyone feel that all was well with the world. Becki’s love of nature and animals was unmatched. She waited every day to see what creatures would arrive in her yard, and spoiled her own pets with an abundance of love and treats. She dearly loved her beautiful home and land in South Casco — a home that belonged to her mother and grandmother. She often said that she could feel their presence in the house. Becki’s simple life was enhanced by the love of her son, Mike and his wife, Tracy. She was known as Grammy Nutmeg to her special grandchildren, Alex and Jayden. She loved spending time with them, baking cookies and seeing them head out in the boat for a day of fishing with their dad. She loved watching NASCAR and her special shows on television. She also was a Candy Crush “queen” on the computer and enjoyed posting her thoughts on Facebook.

Although Becki was in constant pain, her courage and kind spirit showed through. She never complained and continued to the end of her life to make her family, friends and caregivers feel uplifted just by being in the room with her. Even when she was unable to communicate verbally, she continued to comfort others by her very presence. Everyone who knew Becki had a special relationship. She made everyone feel like you were her best friend and favorite relative. The impact that she had on all who knew her was immeasurable. The void that she will leave in all of our lives will be enormous. But, our memories of her will be such fun to recall. She was funny, mischievous, clever and strong. So many stories will be told by her family and friends over the upcoming years. There will be no shortage of material.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Robert Hodgkin Jr.; her father, Richard Hall and his wife Joanne (Mama Jo); her son, Michael and her two grandsons; her sister, Brenda Hall; her brother, Greg Hall and his four children; her stepson, Nicholas; and her stepsiblings Susan, Steve and Peter; her aunts and her uncles, as well as several cousins.

Her beloved mother, Beverly, predeceased her in 2006.

At Becki’s request, there will be no funeral services. There will be a celebration of her life at a date to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, Becki requests donations be sent to: Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, 449 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, ME  04092.
