Barbara Kane

OTISFIELD — Barbara M. (Bean) Kane, 86, of Otisfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at home.
She was born in Otisfield on Sept. 1, 1928, a daughter of Eastman and Olga (Chase) Bean. She attended Otisfield schools and graduated from Oxford High School. She later attended cosmetology school.
Barbara married Robert E. Kane of Oxford on Sept. 2, 1948. She worked for the Town of Otisfield for 31 years, holding the positions of Town Clerk, Tax Collector and Treasurer. During those years, she conducted town business from her own home. She also received her real estate license and owned and operated Mountain View Realty with her husband. She and Bob enjoyed managing over a dozen acres of their wild Maine blueberry fields .
Barbara is predeceased by her husband, who died on Oct. 26, 2007; and her sister, Patricia W. Bourque.
Surviving are her son, Peter L. Kane of Waterford and Florida; two daughters, Cyndy Kane of Bethel and Trish Sturdivant of Otisfield; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the Otisfield Community Hall, where a brief service will be held at 2 p.m.
