Arthur Richardson

WINDHAM — Arthur Wesley Richardson, 80, died on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Ledgewood Manor in Windham.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1936 in Standish in the family home, the son of the late Roland A. and Helen Maria (Boothby) Richardson.

Arthur graduated from Windham High School in 1956. He joined his father and uncle in the masonry and moving trade and later started his own business, A.W. Richardson & Sons, which became a prominent name in the Windham and Lake Region community for moving buildings, masonry work and snowplowing. He was on the Windham Fire Department for many years.

Arthur married Sandra Loring on Sept. 6, 1958 and settled in Windham, raising four sons. He enjoyed racing at Beech Ridge Speedway and Oxford Plains, roller-skating, dancing, camping and mackerel fishing. In his later years, he never missed a bean supper.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Tony. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; his sons, Timothy Richardson of Casco, Terrence Richardson of Windham and Todd Richardson of Raymond; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Marilyn Thompson; many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the chapel. Burial will be private. A reception will follow the service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Parish Hall, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham.
