Arlene R. Freeman

METHUEN, MASS. — Arlene Ruth (Vogt) Freeman, 88, of Lawrence, Mass. and Naples, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at the Holy Family Hospital, after a brief illness.

The middle daughter of the late Edward and Frieda (Eichner) Vogt, she was born on April 16, 1923 in Lawrence, Mass. Raised and educated in Lawrence, she was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1940. She worked in Marum’s Knitting Mills before starting a long career at Western Electric.

At age 40, she married the love of her life, Oscar Freeman and shared many happy years together before his passing in 2007. They retired to Naples, where they enjoyed square dancing, gardening, traveling and entertaining family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

Arlene is survived by her stepdaughter, Laurel Freeman of Connecticut; and her sister, Elinor Tripp of Groveland.

She is predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Jones (2009).

Funeral services will be private with burial to take place at a later date in Maine.
