Summer meals program returns; SAD 61 needs volunteers

SAD 61 Food Service Department is participating in the Summer Food Service Program — food that’s in when school is out — and needs the public’s help.

Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Meals will be provided Monday through Friday at the sites and times as follows: 

• Highland Lake Beach — June 24 to Aug. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m.

• Woods Pond Beach – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m.

• Stevens Brook Elementary School – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 8 to 9 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.

• Sawyer Circle Housing – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m.

• Lake Region High School – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 8 to 9 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.

• Naples Town Beach – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m.

• Casco Community Center – June 24 to Aug. 16, from 12 to 1 p.m.

• Bridgton Recreation – June 24 to Aug. 9, from 8 to 9 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.

• Sebago Elementary — July 9to Aug. 9, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to support the meal sites for food prep, serving, delivering, recording number of meals served, facilitating group activities or cleanup, from June 24 to Aug. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Volunteer for one or more days a week. The Summer Meals Program helps families stretch tight budgets while providing free, nutritious meals to children. No applications are needed. All kids and teens ages 18 and younger are welcome!
