Mark MacDougall has been a strong captain for the Lake Region varsity cross-country team this fall because of his strong work ethic and dedication to the sport.

“Mark is always there for us and the team. He can always be counted on to do what is expected of him,” Lake Region Coach Dan Dors said. “He always gives 100% in practice and at the meets. Mark is a person of great responsibility and has been a pleasure to coach.”

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Mark is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. Why did you choose cross-country? MM. I love running competitively and I love the people that do the sport too.

Q. What do you hope to accomplish this season? MM. The season is just about done, but I hope to accomplish qualifying for States.

Q. What do you enjoy the most? MM. I enjoy being the top runner and a leader for the team.

Q. What do you like the least? MM. I dislike when I have bad races.

Q. What makes you successful? MM. Always working hard and listening to my coaches because they are what will help make me successful.

Q. What would your dream moment be? Being the Class B state champion.

Q. What has cross-country taught you? MM. The sport has taught me that if you work hard then the results will show in competition.

Q. Who has inspired you? MM. My coaches have inspired me because they know how badly I want to be good in races so even when I do bad in one race, they get me thinking positively so I can do better in the next one.
