Freezing for a Reason 2012

A VERY GOOD REASON TO BARK — The 10th annual Freezing for a Reason Polar Dip, to benefit Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, left organizers and spectators howling for joy when Shelter Director Joan McBurnie announced that pledges would likely surpass $21,000. The Polar Dip featured 70 jumpers and six non-jumpers. Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital, which had eight jumpers, earned the business trophy by raising over $1,000, while DancingTrees of Oxford captured the nonprofit trophy as Patti Murphy and Ali Kiger together raised over $11,000! Top adult fundraiser was Fred Washer of Norway, collecting $1,445. Alyssa Janelle of Falmouth raised $135 to earn the Young Adult (13-18 years) trophy, while Susan Rose of Bridgton raised $200 to receive the Youth (up to 12 years) trophy. Non-Jumper honors went to Robert Stuart, who raised $85. (Rivet Photos)
