Laura Ordway


Born in Bridgton, Laura grew up at Winona Camps, a family-owned business on Moose Pond. She attended Bridgton schools, Gould Academy in Bethel and holds a degree in Geology from Bates College in Lewiston. She worked in Wyoming and internationally as a wilderness guide for many years, teaching people the skills necessary to travel safely in the backcountry for extended periods of time. Laura spent several winters guiding climbs on the highest peaks in the Western Hemisphere, Mount Aconcagua, among other places. Since 1996, Laura has worked as the development and assistant director at Winona. Laura and her husband Stefan Jackson, currently Diversity Program director at The Nature Conservancy in Maine, married in 1999. They have two daughters, Stefanie (8) and Jacqueline (4). School Board member for M.S.A.D. #61; current volunteer, Stevens Brook Elementary School and Bridgton PTA member; past Board member, Lakes Environmental Association and Gould Academy Alumni Association.
