Sophomore Collin Varney picked up this season right where he left off last alpine ski season.

“He is working on his technical skills, continues to progress from week to week and has finished in the top 10 in a number of this season’s races,” Lake Region Alpine Ski Coach Kurt Berger said. “Collin is establishing his leadership abilities on the developing boys’ alpine ski team. He is strong in the classroom and on the race course. He earned an 18th place finish in Giant Slalom race with a crossover of the SMAA and Western Maine Conferences.  His hard work is paying off and we look forward to Collin’s finishes for the remainder of the season.”

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Collin is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
