October 2, 1935 – April 18, 2025

Patricia Ann Smart, 89, of Bridgton died Friday morning on April 18, 2025, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Lewiston on October 2, 1935, the daughter of Cyril P. and Arlene (Tunney) Swallow.

Patricia graduated from South Paris High School in 1953, and from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1957. She taught Home Ec, at Potter Academy in Sebago. She also taught first grade at the Fox School in South Paris; as well as first and second grades at Harrison Elementary.

On February 21, 1960, Patricia married Owen Smart, and moved to Bridgton where they raised two daughters. They were lifetime members of the Maine Obsolete Auto League, and the Crazy Eights Square Dance Club. They became snowbirds eventually, moving to Florida year round until the time of Owen’s death in 2016.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Heath (Mark); Linda McAfee (David); grandchildren, Deven McAfee (Cami); Justine Redmun (Scott); and Casey Heath; great-grandchildren, Rory and Finley McAfee; Owen; Elyza and Preston Redmun; two sisters, Perlene Mecervier; and Nancy Kimball. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, a sister, and a niece.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton.
