Paddle Palooza was fun outing on Crystal Lake

HARRISON — “What a great morning for a paddle!”

Indeed, the first Paddle Palooza FUNdraiser to benefit Harrison Rec enjoyed perfect weather and participants not only got a great workout as they covered the 3.2-mile course, they will help provide six children with rec scholarships.

Kayaker Bob Mallon posted the fastest time at 29 minutes, 26 seconds followed by Andy Pattle at 35:15 and John Moomey at 35:41.

Others entered in the kayak division were: Theo Ann Moomey, 36:38; Mark Schraeder, 36:56; Matthew Hartnett, 38:07; Sam Levy, 39:25; Zach Blatt, 44:22; Mike Murrin, 45:28; Tanessa Bajdek, 47:20; Nancy Bryson, 56:57; Janet Smith, 57:10; Ronnie Cavanaugh, 57:16; Julia Schraeder, 58:00; and Elizabeth Usilton, 1:05.55.

Carol and Tom Durkin paddled the course in a canoe, finishing in 43:08.

Stand-up paddlers Debbie Bell and Dawn Latendresse coordinated a tie, reaching the dock timing station together at 56:15.

Maybe the most colorful and interesting entry was the Warriors — Paula Holt, Sue Meuse, Karen Daniels and Carla Rodgers. The foursome showed good team work and rhythm as they paddled to a time of 1:00.50.

In the Kid’s Fun Race, Hyla Hall posted a 5:34 over the shortened course, while Adelyn Neal checked in at 10:02 in her pink kayak.
