Margaret P.  Harwell, 104, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022 at Hart Heritage Estates in Street, Maryland. 

She was born on Sept. 19, 1917, the daughter of George H. Porter and Alice May Adams. The family moved to the Upper Ridge in Bridgton in 1922 and she attended school in North Bridgton. In 1940, she moved to New York City, where at Coney Island she met the love of her life, Thomas Harwell. They married soon after. He was with the Coast Guard, and she spent the next 31 years traveling around with him. She was a homemaker and worked at various jobs. She liked to travel, going to Hawaii, Africa, a cruise down the west Nile River and several other locations. 

Margaret is survived by her son, Royce Harwell of Fort Pierce, Fla.; sisters, Jean Stanford and Sandra Dyer of Bridgton; her devoted granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Schultz; and siblings, Richard, Delmar, Robert, Selma, Barbara, Frances, Daniel and Harvard Porter.
