What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class is AP Literature and Composition. In my mind, this class offered the perfect balance of hard work and fun. We analyzed challenging material every day and had witty conversations discussing our takes. My teacher, Mr. Blake-Glendenning, has grown to be one of my favorite people ever. Overall, I feel like I learned a lot from this class.

What is your toughest class and why? The toughest class that I am currently taking would have to be Calculus. Math can be difficult but the feeling of getting a problem right can be so rewarding... or so I have heard. I have not quite gotten there yet.

How do you balance your classwork and your extracurricular activities? I try to practice habit stacking as much as possible. For example, I tell myself that I will study for one hour before dinner when I get home from practice. If I do not have the time or energy left to accomplish as much as I would like in one day, I try not to fret. I know I am doing my best. I will usually go to bed and wake up an hour before I usually do for school to get some work done. I find I am the most productive when no one else is awake.

What is the biggest challenge high school students face today? I would say the biggest challenge high school students face today is the pandemic. The pandemic altered the way the classroom functions entirely. Switching from in-person and remote learning, unplanned absences of students and teachers, offered an obstacle course for students to try and navigate while pursuing their education.

Who has inspired you educationally, and why? I would say the person who inspired my education the most was my sister Olivia. Olivia is three years older than me and I always looked up to how naturally school came to her. I always felt like I had to work a lot harder than she did for the same results, but it pushed me to want to be as good as her. I believe she pushed me to be a better student because she set goals for me and always helped me achieve them.
