CONWAY, N.H. — John J. Ramsey Sr., 86, of Lovell, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Mineral Springs.

He was born in Success, Missouri, on Dec. 21, 1932, the son of Walter and Florence Cohen Ramsey. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and married Gwendolyn Vear. He had worked as a spray painter in the auto parts industry. He later worked at Thurston’s garage for his friend, Bruce. He enjoyed open mic nights at A.J.’s and at 302 West. He also enjoyed collecting gems.

John is survived by his children, John Ramsey Jr. of Wis., Jay Ramsey and Joelene York and her partner Elliott Emmons, all of Maine, Stephan MacLeod of Mass., Karen LaSalle of N.H., Bill MacLeod and Mark MacLeod both of Mass.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his best friend Bruce Thurston of Lovell. He was predeceased by his wives, Gwendolyn Ramsey and Joann Ramsey; and a daughter, Jackie McDermott.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m., at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg, with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be at Norfolk Cemetery in Norfolk, Mass., on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.woodfuneralhome.org
