James W. Hathaway, 83, of Bridgton passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019, surrounded by his family.

He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and “Papa Jim.”

James was born in New Jersey, to Arthur and Elizabeth Hathaway. Jim was a true patriot and served his country in the U.S. Army. As an ammunition-testing liaison, he fulfilled a 37-year career in the U.S. Department of Defense. His greatest joy was sharing his passion for history and the American West with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty of Bridgton; two daughters, Deb Kohle of Wantage, N.J., and Tami Prescott of Harrison; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with a third due in July.
