Harriett Ann (Adams) Connors, 75, of North Monmouth, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021, from kidney failure.

Born on December 21, 1945, in Bridgton, and the daughter of Marguerite and Perley Adams, she graduated from Bridgton High School in 1964. She then attended the University of Maine in Orono, graduating with a BA degree in Anthropology (Folklore) in 1970. It was there that she met her husband James F. Connors at an off-campus winter igloo party, and they married on September 9, 1967, in Bridgton. In 1971, they moved to Winthrop to begin their careers and start a family, buying a “homestead farm” in 1975 in North Monmouth.

After her children entered elementary school, Harriett received her nursing degree in 1984 from the University of Maine, Augusta and worked many years as Director of Nursing at Nicholson Nursing Home in Winthrop until retiring in 2007. She is remembered fondly by patients’ family members as well as doctors, lawyers, plumbers, and others as sweet, kind, funny, and compassionate.

Throughout her life, Harriett was engaged in the community, volunteering for classroom assistance, co-leading a Girl Scout Brownie Troop, supporting Monmouth libraries, and serving as a docent at the Monmouth Museum as well as many years on its board of directors. She was a crafty person who enjoyed tole painting, acrylics, needlepoint, and knitting, with her handiwork and art decorating many family members’ homes. She had a particular fondness for owls, collecting hundreds of miniatures, hand-crafted birds, and artistic images as family gifts.

Harriett will be remembered for her quiet determination, courage, and grit, especially in facing difficult medical issues in recent years. She was a good listener who was thoughtful, understanding, supportive, and open-hearted, a lover of rescued Rottweilers and cats, an avid reader, and an excellent cook. We will miss her smile and her laughter.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jim; son Geoffrey Scott Connors and wife Katherine; daughter Beth Ann Connors, husband Jason Perow, and grandson Alden Connors Perow; brother-in-law Stanley P. Connors, wife Sheri McCann, and sons Michael and Brian; sister-in-law Cynthia L. Martin, husband Wayne, and daughter Kristen Hurd; as well as many Bridgton cousins.
