Caroline M. Longley, 85

CASCO — Caroline May Longley, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at her farmhouse on Mayberry Hill.
She was born in Boston, Mass., on July 14, 1933, to parents Elliott and Elizabeth May.
She was preceded in death by her three loving husbands, George “Pee Wee” Erwin, Warren “Bud” Darrell, and John M. Longley; as well as her sister Phoebe Lindholm.
She is survived by her sister Dr. Mary Donald and stepbrother Elliott May; daughters Georgine Dodds and her husband Tom, Cathy Erwin and her husband Kevin Gallagher, Caroline Erwin and Alfred Costa; grandchildren, Kirsten Karchov, Jake Dodds, Matthew Dodds and Jett Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Cydney Dodds and Mikha Karchov.
She graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, Texas, then went on to attend Middlebury College in Vermont, spending one year studying abroad in Germany before graduating with a BA in German. Growing up she traveled the world extensively. She was a versatile athlete, excelling in skiing, horseback riding and tennis.
After college she worked at TWA as a translator, and soon thereafter got married and had three daughters. She earned her Masters degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She was a teacher in public schools as well as private instruction for children too sick to attend school.
She cherished all the relationships in her life but her greatest joy came from being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held in the fall. Online condolences may be left for the family at hallfuneralhome.net
