Barbara Barton

NAPLES — Barbara Barton passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

Barbara loved living on Long Lake and tending her beautiful gardens. She was a member of the Songo Garden Club and a longtime volunteer at the Naples Library. She enjoyed playing the organ and taught lessons in Portland for many years. She was an active member of the Hammond Organ Club. She loved to travel, especially abroad, and visited Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Egypt. She believed strongly in eating healthy and fitness and did yoga daily well in to her 80s. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family at the lake. 

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Janie Hammond (Toby Hammond) of Naples, and her daughter, Julie Whitaker (Alan Whitaker) of Fryeburg; her grandchildren, Robyn Sala (Joseph Sala) of Portland, Holly Nass (Jonathan Nass) of Kennebunk, Heather Wilson (Matt Wilson) of Liberty and Alex Denney (Alison Gilmore) of Needville, Texas; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Chandler, Julia, Paige, Jacob, Maxwell, Eliza, Teagan, Declan and Kane. She was predeceased by her parents, Forrest and Doris Dennett of Hiram, and husband and best friend of 63 years, Robert (Bob) Barton of Naples.

A special thank you to the caregivers at the Casco Inn for their care of Barbara.

A private celebration of life will be held in Denmark in June 2020. Arrangements are in the care of Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd., Casco.
